  1. I think we can pick one! You might not guess, but the beautiful Sunflower is a mighty environmentalist. I live near Ford Motor Company world headquarters and they had their 100th anniversary where thousands of people came into town. There was so many people that they parked them all over the lawns. Well afterwards all the grounds were plowed and sunflowers were planted!

I did some research and it turns out that sunflowers will actually 'eat' toxins right out of the soil and convert them to non-toxic compounds. Let's say you spill motor oil on a part of your garden, well plants there won't grow and if they did, they would be contaminated. Now if you plant sunflowers there for 1-3 years this plant will eat the oil out of the soil.

On top of all that, they have large leaves and are quite carbon hungry! Nickelodeon is actually passing out Sponge-Bob sunflower seeds for kids to plant to help the cause. There may be no way to  say "this plant is absolutely the best" because we have a wonderfully large ecosystem, but I don't think you'll find a harder worker than the sunflower.

Try "California Grey Stripe" for a classic look or for a beautiful flower try "Teddy Bear"

    Good Luck!

  2. It depends on where you live, what is a weed in one place is a natural plant elsewhere.

    Here are some bad ones:

  3. Best flowers depends on the biotic and abiotic factors present in an environment.

Beautiful ornamentals like Hydrangea usually thrives on high elevation and cool places. Orchids also thrives on different habitat and based on different ecological factor combination.

For me the best flowers are in the genera Grammatophylum Cypripedium and Paphiopedilum.
