What are the best flowers to buy for my porch? ?

It gets moderate sun exposure, and moderate shade. I live in a apartment, and my porch is on the side, between two complexes. I live in Florida, so it gets pretty warm. Any ideas?

  1. Don't know how big your porch is but I think a banana tree or a palm would be nice in Florida. For flowers hibiscus would be happy or a bird of paradise. Try to find a nursery that sells plants and go check it out. You will surely find something spectacular and can get information there on how to keep it that way.

  2. check out some local nurseries. they probably have some great plants that would look great on a porch and bloom all year round. i would suggest some mums, begonias or dahlias. but i'm not sure how they grow in florida. ornamental grasses are beautiful and you could always give your porch a theme. maybe oriental or zen or something. that always makes it fun!

  3. If you are able to hang anything you should hang ferns, they give a southern charm to a porch and are very hardy.

Hang at least 2. Underneath that in pots on the ground, I like impatiens, specifically red and white mixed. Both ferns and impatiens are primarily shade plants but can tolerate some sun. Both should be kept well watered.
