  1. To sample some wonderful south-western French food try this restaurant.  I've never been disappointed by them.  The one in the 2nd is closer to the Eiffle tower.

They have multiple restos in Paris:

  2. Italian Food and Crepes,- DO NOT EAT SUSHI  WHATEVER YOU DO!

  3. fresh bakery bread

  4. well, about......French food?????

Unless all you want is burger, fries and coke...go to any McDonald, Burger Kings, etc...

  5. French cuisine is one of the glories of human civilization and many people look to the Michelin starred temples of gastronomy as the best examples of this.

But my personal feeling is that it is in the ordinary cooking, the "cuisine bonne femme", that the French are at their best. For its here that we see high standards and careful technique can produce marvelous meals without big price tags.

So what to actually eat and where to eat it?

Well, just about any cafe or little restaurant not choked with tourists and not mentioned in any popular guidebook would be good. Someplace that doesn't have a big sign saying "English spoken."  Wander away from the big tourist attractions (like the Eiffel tower) and wander around the side streets looking for such a place. I'll tell you about just one (the rest are my secret) Le Divin at 41, rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie in the 4th arr.

As to what to eat, here are some suggestions:

Cassoulet might be the national dish of France. Its a slow cooked dish of white beans and various meats and usually goose or duck comfit (which is meat that has been preserved by cooking in it own fat). This is the ultimate French comfort food.

Brandade is a pounded combination of salted fish (traditionally cod) , olive oil, garlic, milk and cream

Soupe de Poissons provencale is the cousin of the famous bouillabaisse. Its served with seperate dishes containing shredded cheese, croutons and a garlic pepper sauce which you mix into the soup to taste.

Moules Marinees (Mussels in broth) is, one might argue, more Belgian than French but the the Belgians are also responsible for what most Americans call French fries and are no slouchs at cooking either. A big pot of mussles cooked in white wine and a big crusty loaf of bread is a fabulous meal.

Boeuf en daube is the basic French take on beef stew but shows how gorgeous such a prosaic dish can be.

The bottom line advice is to be fearless when ordering food. Point at something that you've never heard of and give it a try. The very worst that can happen is that you'll have a funny story to tell your friends when you get home. At best you'll discover something delightful that you might otherwise have gone a lifetime without trying.

  6. Hiya try this site it has a good guide to eating out in Paris http://www.travel--guide.org/Paris

  7. I went there a few years ago, and there are many different types of small cafes near the Eiffel Tower. Also, there are more than just French restaurants in the area. You can probably find a Greek, Italian, or other cultured restaurant as well.

The one thing I highly suggest you try while you're in Paris though, is a crepe. They are very popular and you can find them at street vendors and many restaurants. Try both a savory crepe (something maybe with cheese and veggies or meat, depending on what you like) and a sweet crepe (fruit and powdered sugar, chocolate and almond spread, etc). They are absolutely delicious!

Also, I suggest you buy this book:

    http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/displ...

or just borrow it from your local library. It has tons of descriptions of great places to eat, see, and do while in Paris. It's super helpful and informative.

    Have fun on your trip!

  8. Wow , Rillifane you know Paris better than me !!
