  1. That depends on which subject. I really like Saxon for math.

  2. I think the real question should be "What is the best curriculum for my child(ren)?"

The K12 (www.k12.com) curriculum may be the "best" in terms of academic rigor, but it may not be "best" for every child.

So, I would look at curriculum with rigorous content, determine how your children learn best and then find the ones that match.  If you start out with one and it isn't working -- change.

  3. That all depends on the student, the way they learn, and how much prep/teaching time the parent has.

Barb mentioned Robinson, which is a very good curriculum.  It's a method that doesn't work well for my son, so we use some different products.  His best friends use yet different curriculum choices.

Could you tell us a bit more?  Like what grade you're looking for, how you (or the student, if you're asking for someone else) prefers to learn (reading great lit, workbooks, computers, hands-on projects, audio resources, etc.), and what sort of a budget you're working with?  There are literally thousands of different choices out there, but if you can give us more details, we'll be happy to point you in the right direction :)

  4. The best plan that we have found is the Robinson Curriculum.  It is a self-teaching method that teaches the student how to become a self-motivated learner.  They do math, write and read.  They master the basics with a view toward accuracy and complete truth in every pursuit.  With a base of mastery they are able to venture into every area of academia with ease.

  5. Mine is Calvert, which I love, but it only goes up to 8th grade.

    Good luck!

  6. I'm doing highschool through American School. It's pretty easy if you actually do it. It's all open book and you can get help by calling them. I don't know if it's the best, but it's an answer to your question.

  7. The best way to choose a curriculum is to think about your goals and learning style.  If you want to go to college your curriculum may be different from someone who wants to attend cosmetology school after high school graduation.  Before choosing a program, be clear about your goals.

Learning styles pertain to how you best receive, process and remember information.  Here is some information on learning styles:

After examining the above, you will want to choose a homeschool method:

That will give you a start in terms of choosing a curriculum.  To see some curriculum reviews, check out:
