  1. Properly allocated index funds. You need a time frame of at least 5 years to average a 10% return. Asset Allocation is the key to reducing risk while increasing returns.


  2. I have been managing funds since 1997. What I tell my clients is to diversify their investments in both fixed income investments (like treasury bills, bank CDs, rental property income) and Capital growth securities (stocks, managed forex accounts, options/futures).

    For newbie investors or those who are risk averse, I recommend they allocate 80/20 of total portfolio in favor of fixed income investments. For those who prefer to get high return for taking on risk, 50/50 allocation for both fixed income investments and capital growth.

    There is no one security that can give you 10%ROI year after year. Your portfolio has to be diversified enough that any unfavorable market condition will not affect your future cash flow.
