  1. For a detox, may I suggest becoming a juicetarian?

    Apple Cucumber Juice

    Ingredients

1 large or 2 small cucumbers, sliced lengthwise

    ½ apple, sliced

    2 tablespoons loosely chopped parsley

    Instructions

If the cucumber is not organic or if it is waxed, peel it. Slice the cucumber and apple to fit the juicer. Use the apple and cucumber slices to push the parsley through the juicer. Drink immediately for maximum benefit.

  2. apples, blueberries, cranberries for fruits and lots of water to flush out your system. If you are doing a  detox the way I think you mean, you are going to suffer lethargy to a point no matter what you do. You will have to push through tasks on willpower.

  3. asparagus (especially canned) works as a diuretic....

  4. I think any fruit is great for cleansing the body.

A detox diet should only be short term, detox diets are not sustainale diets for a long period of time. That said, it is great to have a detox every now and then.

Virtually all fruits will boost your health. You can buy smoothies and fruit juices in a range of flavours. Smoothies are high in fibre (because the whole fruit is used) so they help relieve congestion in the body.  Alternatively you can make your own smoothies or juice at home. According to a nutrition book I own, carrots are great for cleansing the digestive system. Try carrot juice. It's full of nutrients, such as beta carotene, vitamin C, magenesium, etc.

You don't have to have a radical change in diet to experience a boost in your health. Try to incorporate *raw* foods in your diet.

Make simple changes, such as adding blueberries to your morning cereal, or having an apple as part of your breakfast. Eat fruits as a snack. By eating more fruit, you're giving your body LOTS of essential vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. Not to mention energy.

Bananas are very nutritious, and great for energy too- they are a sustaining food because they release energy slowly. Therefore, try eating a banana an hour or so before you go running. Mangos and blueberries are another good option- they are high in fibre, and in the East are helpful in eliminating toxins.

Try to cut down on processed foods. Prepacked ready meals provide lots of salt, fat and chemical nasties. It's best to stick to raw, (organic when possible) foods. Any fruit will have a cleansing effect. Eat as much fruit and vegetables as you can. Lots of water helps too.  Your body will thank you for it.
