I just started golfing and to be honest, i lose a helluva lot more balls than i keep. I don't really want to buy crappy balls for that reason, so- what are some of the better balls out there?

I'm trying to look out on ebay for nice used balls so i dont have to dish out the big bucks everytime i go to hit the back 9. Thanks in advance.

  1. Well Titleist Pro V1x are the best balls out there but are really expensive. Callaways are decent for an okay price but Nike One Platinum and Bridgestone Tour b-330s are also nice.

  2. It depends a lot on your skill level.  This site will give you ratings based on different ball attributes http://www.golfballs101.com

This one will give you suggestions based on your skill level  http://golfballguide.com

  3. Buy as many Nike Mojo 3 golf balls you can get your hands on.  They're not too expensive and you can get them in bulk on ebay.  Long of the tee and decent around the greens.  The Mojo 3 golf balls are in the purple psychedlic looking box.

  4. titleist pro v1x. Softer, Longer, Straighter

  5. The best golf balls are Titleists Pro v1. Other good balls are Nike ones and Platinums. Callways HX Tours are also good. But if you want a good ball and is also cheap try getting some Nike juices.

  6. There are a number of new balls at lower prices that should get you by until your golf game improves where you are not losing so many.  And the golf club pro can help you here.  Just don't be hesitant to tell the pro your reason, be honest, and you will be surprised how much information a pro can assist you with, not just golf balls, but your game.  There have been a number of comparisons and studies written in the national golf magazines about the top of the line balls versus the middle and lower priced ones, and performance wise....really not that much difference, but enough that the experienced golfer will always play the better ones.  Also, as your game improves your confidence does as well.  And, most golf courses have a variety of "pre-used" golf balls at much lower prices. Plus, lots of choices and priced accordingly.

This should be much easier than looking on ebay.

  7. Titleist pro v1x??  For someone just starting out??  Umm, NO!  They run $50 a dozen, easily!  Pro's use pro v1x hence the name of the ball, "PRO" v1x!

Stay away from any ball with the name "tour" on it as they'll be just as expensive as Nike Blacks/Platinum's or Pro v1x's and they won't give you the distance you're looking for.

Look for "Value" golf balls.  These are those name brand balls that are marketed at the lower price points, usually sub-$20 per dozen. Dunlop, Top-Flite, Maxfli, Precept, Callaway, Titleist - in short, most of the major ball manufacturers - produce balls in the value category. These balls are generally built to minimize spin, maximize distance and resist wear and tear. For absolute beginners who don't want used, refurbished or x-outs, but want brand new, name-brand balls, value balls are the ones to choose.  You can usually get them from Big 5 sporting goods if there is one in your area.
