I'm a young professional who is considering moving there in about a year. I'm looking for a central location that is close to nightlife and restaurants.

  1. Balmain is a excellent place to live, its safe and friendly and right near the harbour. Its near the city and has great restaurants and cafes. Its just a short bus drive away.

Bondi is a lovely place, but if you want a view of the beach in your house it is extremely expensive.

  2. inner city suburbs.

  3. Bondi

    Coogee

nightlife, restaurants , about 15 minutes from the city, and the glorious beach :)

  4. If you are a professional that likes restaurants then a good area is Balmian/Leichhardt. Close to the city - some people walk in to work if you like a bit of exercise at that time of the day. The food in that area is good and not far from the clubs and bars in the heart of the city. The other area is Eastern suburbs beaches (Bondi/Bronte/Coogee) but they can be a bit of a 'back-packer' crowd.

  5. I've lived in most areas of Sydney and I would have to say that the Inner West seems most suited to your criteria. It has good restaurants, good public transport, is a cheap trip home by cab, etc. Some suburbs such as Blaming have already been mentioned to them I'd also add the suburbs such as En more, Peter sham, Lewis ham, Dulcia Hill, Summer Hill etc. All are multi cultural,a mix of families and young professionals, they ll have a selection of restaurants themselves and are close to the city, Leichhardt etc. Glebe is another suburb that you should consider.

  6. surry hills, you cant go wrong there, its right in the city

  7. If you don't care about pricing, then by all means go for the Inner West, Eastern Suburbs or even the North Shore. All of these areas are in close proximity to the CBD, which has great night life!

Some suburbs you should look at:

    Inner West - Leichardt, Balmain

    Eastern Suburbs: Bondi

    North Shore: Mosman, North Sydney

    Good luck!

  8. Randwick (eastern suburbs) is close to everything - the city, Bondi Junction (don't recommend Bondi unless you like to live somewhere extremely crowded), Coogee and Maroubra beaches,  Airport etc. It has many shops, a cinema, restaurants (some very good ones)
