What are the best nightclubs in Cuba ? I want to party!?

I'm in my mid 20's and I just want to dance and not see a show. What are some popular clubs out there? Even a locals club is fine(Where can I meet regular girls from Cuba...not prostitutes!) Give me spots near Havana and near Varadero where I'll be staying. Thanks for all your help!

If a club costs more than about CUC 1 to get in (which applies to pretty most places on that list), you won't find many "normal" Cubans - they can't afford them. (The girls that you will meet there will mostly be hoping to latch on to a foreigner to reimburse their entry fee, buy their drinks and leave them in profit).

Some of the places on the list have afternoon shows, that do cater for locals (i.e. they pay in local pesos). The big name places have a live band as well as recorded music (or the Cocodrilo has comedy acts followed by dancing).

The places the Cubans DO go to, can be a bit rough (in two senses - lacking amenities and prone to violence). I have been a number of times to places in Baracoa, a village just west of Havana. They cater to locals and to students from the Latin American Medical School. If you do want to go to that sort of place, I recommend you find a Cuban taxi driver who is willing to act as bodyguard.
