  2. Fungal infections of the skin are indeed curable. There are several types of fungal skin infections and there are different oral treatments dependent upon the organism.  Many new broad-spectrum antifungal agents effectively treat a wide range of organisms which allows patients to begin treatment without waiting for culture results. There are three which are widely used and should be able to be obtained via a physician in India:  itraconazole, terbinafine and fluconazole.  Follow your physician's method of treatment as each is administered differently (i.e. pulse therapy v daily regimen).  Some of these work well for short term therapy, others last longer - but keep in mind that:

    1) fungal infections can be recurrent and take a very long time to resolve

    2) certain oral meds can be quite costly and can run the risk of side effects.

If the infection is not severe, there are several over the counter remedies -- any product that is fmarketed for the purpose of treating athlete's foot or jock itch should be antifungal (i.e. Tinactin).  For fungus of the nail, I've heard that twice daily application of Vick's Vapor Rub under the affected nail helps resolve the infection over the course of a few months, but that is not a medically supported method (just one that manicurists swear by).  Good luck and feel better.
