What are the best options for travel to Florence? I'm coming the first week of April.?

I would be happy to fly into Rome or Milan first and then travel to Florence but need to know how far away each city is from Florence and the best/cheapest ways to get there. Thanx!

You can fly straight to Florence (US-Germany-Florence), unless you want to go to Milan and Rome... The best way to travel within Italy is to take the train. You can get a 2-month eurorail pass for about $160 and go Milan-Florence-Rome. You can buy a single ticket to go from one destination to another, in whatever city you are at the train station. The europass is a great value.  Florence-Rome is about 1.5hrs. The trains are pretty comfy. You have plenty of options, so you need to decide what you want to see. The europass needs to be validated  before use.
