  1. In 5-8 feet of water with weedy bottoms. I catch most of mine around sunset.

  2. just at sunrise

  3. shore line just before sunrise/dusk

  4. In the weeds in the early morning

  5. By contrast most are close in their assesment of your question but without a boat you will need to wade into protected bays inlets and shallow weed filled areas surrounding your favorite lake. The best time is when the morning clouds burn off and right when the sun begins shining through the cloud cover. The second best time is when the mornings first breeze starts it's ripples or chop to the waters surface. If both occur simultaneously you are in for a great day of fishing mate. All big fish that feed on top water (and in a weed infested bays or inlets) when the water surface is a mirror the fish will see the baits hit and splash from twenty feet away and those fish you will not catch. (period)

  6. Reeds, grasses, and other places where they can hide along the shore line. Also try around where a small stream (inlet or outlet) meets with the main body of the lake you are fishing. Pike are predatory ambush fish. They hang close to areas where smaller fish try to hide. Early morning hours are the best and just before sunset works too.
