  1. Try dasharhalli, yeshwantnagar, Jaynagar.

  2. best places are..

Commericial market, marathalli, M.G road and Shivaji place.

Theses are best places for shopping in Bangalore apart from theses place u will find few interesting on your way.

  3. like what you want to shop why don't you name some items

  4. Come to Chickpet and surrounding areas. You will find all the stuff under the Sun at cheapest price. There are Thousands of shops. Walk and explore the by lanes.

    Happy shopping.

  5. malleswaram

  6. The above answers are all good.  In addition, I would recommend Avenue Road.  There are sooo many little stores there.  Really good silk stores (raw materials to saris).  There are lots of dress materials sold along 100s of stores on Avenue Road sold at a fraction of a price compared to Commercial St. or MG Road.

Malleswaram - 8th cross has many little stores that are reasonable.  Sampige Road has many unique (old) stores.  Malleswaram is one of the oldest sections of B'lore.

It really depends on what you're looking for (& since you said it shouldn't look "fancy"):

If you're looking for clothes (top fashion) or even exhibition items from Kashmir, etc. then Brigade Road & Commercial Street.

If you're looking for pure silk try MG Road, Malleswaram , Avenue Road (Ratna Silks). and any Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC) store:  http://www.ksicsilk.com/generalsareespec...

If you're looking for shoes (varieties) - I personally love Commercial street.  There are literally so many of them, that you'll have to hunt through them.  A lot of the stores here have "export" quality, and for a fair price.  If you like leather products, this is where you want to go as well.

    ---------

For really fancy boutiques (Vittal Mallya Road, and of course high-end hotels like Leela Palace, Taj, etc.)
