What are the best places to go to in Mexico???

I'm asking this for my families vacation next year and I wanted to know the best places to visit and please give me reasons why and try and tell things like wat there is to do / see.

I really recommend going to Mexico City because has lots and lots of Mexican culture yet there are parts you would forget you are in Mexico, more like Hollywood. But near Mexico City, like right on the edge there are more things to go see, like the Pyramids, they are cool, I actually never been there, but I will this winter!

the best place in Mexico is Cancun, zona hotalera(hotel zone) a lot of tourist and a lot activities to do if you like water sports, snorkeling, swimming, scuba and more, i went in the beginning of July. the beginning of June to august is the best time to go. is beautiful the beach water is blue turquoise, you would have a lot of fun all the Mexicans speak perfect English, i was surprise the hotel was 5 stars with all inclusive with a reasonable Price, people are very nice is like a paradise. places to visit definitely xcart, sel-ha, playa del carmen, has night cl ubs are very great, you will not be disappointed at all. my husband and i we going back in august because is  a lot to see and do that you need 2 to 3 weeks to do all and see all. beautiful like a dream, you can't believed what you eyes will see.

My favorite city is San Cristobal de las Casa in the state of Chiapas, but it's probably not the best place for the first trip. But I much prefer renting a car a driving to as many different cities as I can. There's so much to see and buy:

Guitars in Paracho in the state of Michoacan

Hammocks in Merida in the state of Yucatan

Weaving in Teotitlan del Valle in the state of Oaxaca

Silver in Taxco in the state of Guerrero

Almost any town on the coast to eat a lot of seafood.

Mexico City and Cancun are too crowded for me, but you should go to Mexico City at least once for:

the museums

the Ballet Folklorico

the Metro (subway) system

the zocalo (the cathedral and Templo Mayor)

and a trip out to Teotihuacan

If you want to go to someplace like Cancun but cheaper, try Playa del Carmen or Tulum just down the coast from Cancun.

There is so much to do in Mexico that someone can't tell it all in a few paragraphs here.  You need to get a Mexico guide book and read it and hi-light the things your interested in seeing.

That's a great question but its not a simple answer. Let me ask you a few questions and I will be able to answer your question. How many in the family? Are there children if so what are their ages? I ask these because some places are not as child friendly as others. Have you concidered a cruise to the Mexican Rivera?
