We are relocating to Texas from Missouri and we need to know some good inexpensive places to live out there. Also anyone who knows any privately owned properties or really lieniant apartments that dont really care about credit and since we wont have and jobs yet. We are willing to pay the full term of the lease upfront, We are looking to move asap. Any help?

  1. Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio are all big cities, but it is probably somewhat expensive to live in any of those places.  Lubbock is a smaller town, and is a really nice place to live.  I highly recommend living there.  There are also a lot of small towns in the panhandle- the people are really friendly and the crime rates are really low in most of them.

  2. Well I live in Central Texas and I can't tell you the best place, but I can tell you my favorites around my area and maybe that'll help.

Austin- great night life, shopping, parks, lakes, and VERY diverse. Austin is one of my all time favorite TX cities because there's soo much to do and even after living here all my life and so close to Austin I continue to discover more things to check out and go do in Austin. Let me suggest if you live/visit here you must check out...Carlos and Charlies, The Oasis, Hula Hut, The Domain, and 6th Street.

Galveston- great if you love the beach. There is also a lot of cute shops, but keep in mind that beach property is more costly and often when we have hurricanes a lot can be destroyed.

Fort Worth- again more shopping, several malls. The Fort Worth/Dallas area is considered our "metro" area.

Wimberly OR Salado OR Fredericksburg- Wimberly is about 30 minutes south of Austin. Salado is about an hour north of Austin. Fredericksburg is about an hour north west of Austin. All are quiet little towns, cute homes, great for a mini vacation, and unique shopping. By unique I mean they sell antiques, rustic home decor, iron works, chunky jewelry, and arts and crafts.

San Marcos- mainly a college town, but it's right between San Antonio and Austin. Which means easy access for shopping, out door recreation, Schlitterbahn, Fiesta Texas, etc.

Also, you should check out "Texas Monthly" it's a magazine that has a lot of pictures and ideas about places to visit in Texas. It's good to get an idea of what kind of area you want to live in.

  3. Pflugerville and Roundrock are just outside of Austin, Texas, which as everyone knows, is an amazing city! There's so much to do out there, and the housing is cheaper than it is in Austin. It's like a 45 minute drive to Austin from there where you can do tons of shopping and fun stuff like go out on the lake or whatever. It's very pretty out there. Unless you like concrete jungles like Dallas or Fort Worth, but they are more expensive.
