  1. If you have a clear day, go up the Schilthorn via Murren. Otherwise you could climb the Heimweh flue (or take the cable car.)

Don't forget to enjoy some Rivella (national soft drink) while you are there!

  2. Hi,

this is actually one of my favourit daytrips from Zurich if I have visitors.

Usually I go there by car using the highway via Luzern and the Brunegg Pass to get some nice sights on the way there. This trip takes about 2 hours and you will ge to see some very nice country sites.

I usually skip Interlaken and just go right up to the Bernese Mountais (direction Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen). Both parts of the valley are very nice, even though I prefer the Lauterbrunnen part for a daytrip a lot more.

I head down the valley until I reach the Schilthorn cablecar and depending on funds, time and weather (check out the cameray picture of the top at the ticket counter) do I take a ticket to go up all the mountain or just to Murren. Depending on what you want to do, can I recommend a very nice hike following the North Frace Trail or just walk along the scenic town of Murren and enjoy the views of the wonderful mountains.

If you want to go to the Jungfraujoch, then you need to take the train from Lauterbrunnen. Please be aware that this can be very pricy and with bad weather (no view) also not that much worth the trip. But you could also just go up to Kleine Scheidegg, hike a bit and look at the Eiger Northface. I like this place especially in winter, as it is a good skiing area.

Grindelwald is also a nice place, just much bigger then Wengen or Muerren and does not have as much mountain charm as they still have.

The return trip to Zurich (by car) do I usually do via Bern as this is a bit faster and easier to drive by night.

All places are also reachable by public transport, but I have not tried it yet myself.

    Ina
