  14. When monsoon rains sweep actoss the country withdaily torrential downpours and a high possibhility of flooding make travelling hard except North West which includes Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The NW is predominatly dry and arid with the Thar Desert occupying the far western expanse. The monsoon bears little or no effect on the weather and rainfall is minimal throughout the year. Many cities in Rajasthan are built around sacred lakes and these are at their best during monsoon season. Eg. Aravali hills around FAtehsagar and Pichola lakes in Udaipur.

Kerala-    The monsoons in Kerala do not take the pattern of incessant rains continuing for weeks. Virtually it rains for a few hours with sunny interludes.Occassionally the rains might stretch on for a few days but the respiteof sunshine is never fat away. People look forward to seeing the sun peep through the wet palm fronds &rain drenched green These golden interludes provide an equilibrium to life's natural flow.

Kerala has mainly two rainy seasons. The south-west monsoon that arrives in the month of June is called Edavapathy as it comes in the middle of month of Edavam on the Malayalam calendar.

Mid-October witnesses the arrival of the N.E.monsoon. In the Malayalam calendar this month is called Thulam & hence rhe name Thulavarsham meaning "the rains in Thulam".Now the gathering rain clouds are from the Bay of Bengal. These bearers of rain hurry to Kerala through the Palakkad gap in the Western ghats. The swirling, jostling, billowing dark messenger of life sailing on the wings of N.E. winds is a breathtaking sight to behold.

The art forms of Kerala demand the utmost dedication

& training. These native art forms require complete control over each nerve of the body.As part of this training the artists undergo ayurbvedic therapies. Special herbal oils &medicinesare applied on the body of the artist during the MOnsoon time to ensure muscle flexibility and dexterity of movement.

As nature recoups with the rains it is rejuvenation time for humans too. According to Ayurveda , monsoon is the best season for rejuvenation therapies. During the monsoon season, the atmosphere remains dust-free amd cool, opening the pores of the body to the maximum making it most receptiveto herbal oils and therapy.

This description would suffice for anyone to know that N.W. India and Kerala are the best places to visit

    in monsoon.

    and Himalayan regions.

  15. Two options :

    1. Be at any of the Konkan beaches. Most of the beaches are without usual crowds ( almost deserted ). Nice feelings. Fresh surroundings and atmosphere. Lots of leisure time as well as beautiful meals. If it's drizzling, more happiness. In the background there is lots of green spaces.

    2. Be at any of the dense forests. Ideal for trekkers. Be at a mid-height cliffs, mountains, passes etc. Walk through the surrounding forests. If you need to carry your etables and water, better. One good spot is "Naneghat" in Maharashtra. Accessible, easy trek ( could be finished in a day ), nearer Mumbai are the USPs. There are several such forests and treks in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himalayas, South India ( around either Madikeri or Bandipur areas ).

  25. Places to visit during monsoon seasons are the places away from the hills and mountains if you intend to enjoy your holidays and not keen on being stuck on the road due to land slides.

Avoid being in Himichal pradesh , Uttrakhand during this period.

The plains of India offer an ideal opportunity during this time if you can bear on to the high humidity and are not adverse to having your clothes soiled.

  26. There are actually two types of monsoons in india.they are south west monsoon season and north east monsoon season.during s.w.monsoon kerala, mumbai on the whole the west coast of india gets rainfall.so these places become good and during N.E.monsoon tamilnadu alone gets rainfall .so it becomes a nice place to visit.particullary in kerala backwaters are really fantastic.and for tamilnadu ooty and kodaikanal becomes good.but one thing during monsoon season one cannot enjoy the places affected by monsoon....because of rain.
