  1. You don't say what your musical interests are, so it's hard to narrow it down really.

First place I would recommend is the Sunset Jazz Lounge. Don't be put off by the word 'jazz' in the title. It plays all kinds of music. It features lots of live musicians as is a wonderfully romantic location. Sunset Lounge is just one of the venues owned by Circe Broom and she has live music running somewhere at least 5 times a day. If you want to be kept in touch about events, join her group - Circe's Circle of Sound. Free to join and all events are free. Up to you if you want to tip either musicians or Circe herself.

Circe's best friend in SL is Slim Warrior. Slim is a musician in SL and she has a great live music venue called Menorca. It worth checking out and if you have a free slot, worth joining her group too.

Some of my favourite SL places are either role-playing areas or places where I can relax. I'm not into the forced s*x role-play, so the places I like for RP are Northfarthing and Avillion. Both are medieval fantasy role-playing regions. Avillion is the bigger of the two with literally hundreds of people involved.

My favourite places to chill are:

Svarga: This place is like a lost realm of Myst (computer game series). Svarga has no events. There are no dance areas and just one strore in the base of the main tower right in the middle of the island. There are lots of secrets to discover though. When you get tired of exploring you can relax in the reading room, the top of te tower, on a mushroom at ground level, or at the hidden flower garden.

October Country: This is another amazing place based on the stories of H P Lovecraft. At th arrival point you will be instructed to turn on the music stream. What you get is not music, but old radio horror dramas. You can sit around the campfire at the edge of the graveyard to listen, or you can explore. If you choose the latter you will find a park area and then the town of Innsmouth. From here you can either walk out over the rock bridge to the lighthouse, or you can climb the hill path to the old hotel, which has a warren of cellars and then deep tunnels. There is roleplaying at October Country - very Call of Cthulhuish in style. They also have costume parties every Saturday night.

The Lost Gardens of Apollo: This isanother whole sim location like Svarga and October Country, but it has something of a Roger Dean feel to it (Roger Dean is the person who painted all those weird fantasy LP covers for bands like Yes back in the 70s). There is a market here and a floating dance hall. Don't restrict yourself to ground level here as the sky has many amazing secrets.. The one downside to Apollo is that some guys think it's a good place for picking up girls. Invariably you will be approached by newbie guys who will try to get you to go and dance with them ... or they may want more than a dance. Sometimes, they don't understand the meaning of the word, 'NO'.

AKK Ranch: You will love this place, especially if you like horses. This is primarilly a business that sells animated horses for you to ride. It also includes two whole sims to ride your horse. A horse costs around L$2000, which - for many - is a huge amount of money. However, they have a very nice try before you buy demo horse for free. It's only good for three uses, so be careful with it. Ignore the notecard that tells you to rez the horse on the ground first - if you do that you use up one of your three free uses. To ride the horse, you 'wear' it from your inventory. It attatches to where your prim skirt will be, so wear pants first. If you take the horse off, one use is over, however, should you log out while you are on the horse, when you log back in you will still be onit ad will still count as the same use as when you logged out. You can only ever have one demo horse. When your three uses are up, you can click on the demo vendor again, but you won't get anything. There are two downsides to AKK Ranch. First, when you try the demo, you will want a horse of your own. Do not rush this as there are many horses to choose from and you can choose between an English or a Western saddle. You can also go for a side saddle should you wish. Second problem is that the creepy guys have cottoned on to the fact that girls like horses and they flock there to try and chat up girls. They WILL follow you around on their demo horse making crude remarks until you tell them to  ... well you can guess what you'll tell them to do. LOL

GION Project: This is an entire sim made in the style of a feudal Japanese town. A lot of the people who go here are Japanese. Some will talk to you and they are always very polite, however, only a few speak English and I have never found a really good English/Japanese translator.

I hope some of these places are useful to you. Have fun.

  2. Venice Beach is a great sim. Much shopping and a nice big beach...too bad I got banned for leaving items there. Town of Union Bay is one of my favorite urban role playing sims, it also includes a beach. Cool Bay house & jazz club is an awesome club. They always have a live DJ and money prizes.

If you want to know anything else IM me Bourne Streeter
