Kuti's Indian Brassierie is probably the best curry house outside of West London.

Dock Gate 4 (near Ocean Village) is an interesting bar but don't go there if you like good beer.

If you're into "clubbing" or "flashyness" there are plenty of overpriced and poor quality joints around the Civic Centre and London Road areas. They're all as naff as each other. They take money from gullible 'yuppie' and inexperienced students.

If you just want a good pub atmosphere and well kept beer then you would be better off looking to the suburbs and surrounding towns.

Almost any of the former Gales pubs (now Fullers, check their web site) will have a great atmosphere, superb drink and good food.
