  1. Try going scuba diving or go parasailing. I went on a cruise once and the people who came back from scuba diving had a blast.....

  2. With Cozumel, if you have it, take the excursion out to Xel-Ha.  IT is a GORGEOUS lagoon with crystal clear waters.

We were there for a few hours and only wish we had the whole day there to explore.

  3. In cozumel the snorkling and is amazing! the water is like 25 feet deep and you cans ee straight to the bottom! There are pretty fish and no shraks!

  4. Sounds like you are going on the Conquest?  We took her for Spring Break and she is a great ship.

For Cozumel, there are dozens of shore excursions that are fun.  We have been there 3 times and always had a great time.  The Dolphin Experience is fun and the submarine ride is good but the best one we have done is the Cavern by Jeep tour!  You take the ferry to Playa del Carmen and drive Jeeps down to a cavern with an underground river.  You get to swim in the underground river!  It is amazing.  They don't even let you touch the water in caverns in the US!  After the cavern, back to the Jeeps and you go to a private beach for an authenic Mexican lunch and beachtime!  It was great.

In Grand Caymans, you have to do one of the StingRay adventures.  But skip the one with the trip to h**l and the Turtle Farm.  These side trips take up too much time.  h**l is only a convenience store in front of a rock formation.  The t-shirts that say "I have been to h**l and back" cost $36.00 each!

We did the Horseback ride on the beach in Jamaica...it was OK.  Not what I expected.  You don't ride on the beach.  They take you into the water on the horses after a 45 walk through the hills.  Would not do it again....My cousin took her family to the beach and they had a good time.

Take plenty of $1, 5 and 10 in US dollars to use in the markets.  They will deal with you in Cozumel but not in Grand Cayman.  Be sure to hit the open air market in Cozumel (near downtown) for the best deals.  Stay out of the mall if you want good deals.

Notable...you have to tender (take a ferry) in Grand Cayman.  The lines are very long to get back on the ship.

  5. parasailing and snorkeling are great and my other personal favorite hanging at the beach and relaxing all for the price of a $5-10 taxi ride.  I also heard that the glass bottom canoes in cozumel is a must.

  6. Cruise excursions help you to discover your destination in your limited time in port, offering an enhanced experienced you would be hard-pressed to top venturing out on your own. Options are virtually endless and offered through every cruise line as well as through independent shore excursion companies. Choose from a wide variety of cruise excursions ranging in difficulty levels including everything from quiet garden tours to wild, whitewater rafting adventures. Get an up close view of Mount McKinley in Alaska by trekking inland for a visit or catch a birds-eye view of the rain forests while cruising down a zip line over the forest canopy. Participation in cruise excursions adds excitement and enrichment to your vacation.

    Cruise Excursions - Guided Tours

Cruise excursions are led by knowledgeable, professional guides who have studied the intricacies of the destination including history, culture, wildlife, and geology. With only one day to spend in each port, it is important to organize your sightseeing so you can get the most out of your travels. Cruise excursions are very well planned, timely and professional. Thinking ahead can ensure that you have an opportunity to see your preferred sites and still get back to the ship on time.

Cruise Excursions - Adventure & Discovery

Cruise excursions vary in difficulty levels. While some people enjoy zip lines, cross-country bike rides and the like, others would prefer a day of shopping or a guided tour via climate controlled motor bus. That is why cruise lines indicate the level of difficulty for each cruise excursion so as to avoid risking the health and enjoyment of a guest.

Cruise Excursions - Tipping Guides & Drivers

Cruise excursions become most important when the ship docks at a port that is not located in the city center. For the convenience of their guests, some cruise lines will offer a shuttle bus service to take passengers to the city center and the action. When this is the case, extending a gratuity to your guide or driver is strictly optional. If you would like to reward your guide or driver for all of their help, a commonly accepted guideline is $1 per person for a half day and $2 per person for a full day.

Cruise Excursions - What To Wear

Cruise excursions, above all, require that you wear comfortable walking shoes at all times. Restrictions that vary according to destination. For instance, cruise lines suggest that you dress conservatively when visiting places of worship, avoiding shorts, sundresses and the like so as not to offend. Port lectures usually offer some further insight into this. Also, when visiting ruins or walking on cobblestone streets, wear rubber-soled shoes. It's also smart to wear a full coverage hat in sunny locations if you are at all sensitive to burning.
