What are the best resources (especially online) to find your Family Tree?

This question is asked over and over every day, there should be a "sticky" that answers this.  Anyway, here goes:

Family research or genealogy is not a simple process, you cannot simply go online and bam there are your records.  Family Trees are a cumulation of research and work.  Most people publish their tree online to share, however, much caution as you really don't know if 1) this is your family, 2) the information is valid.

With that said, the best thing to do is to become a researcher yourself.  It is a very fun and rewarding hobby.  

I recommend reading Kimberly Powell over at about.com.  She has an excellent beginner section.  http://genealogy.about.com/

She lists her top 10 websites for family research and much more.

Likely the genealogy stuff done by the Mormons.

I found a lot on ancestry.com, and much of it is free.  There are boards as well, so you can find others looking for the same people.
