A few of my favorites:  The Ivy (Covent Garden); Oxo Tower (on the River); Zafferano (Wonderful Italian in Knightsbridge); Langhams (West End); Zumas (Japanese, trendy, also in KBridge)

I'd recommend The Wolseley in Picadilly. The restaurant is housed in a 1920's car showroom.

Go there for the best breakfast London can offer or try the chateaubriand for dinner - great!

I like the Mango Tree close to Victoria Station, great Thai food.  The Cinnamon Club in Westminster is an upscale Indian restaurant.  You pay the price here, but it's amazing.
