I am going to PV in September...any ideas where we can find good, affordable food and drink? We're not looking for the upscale joints, we're looking for the local's favorite hangouts with some cool atmosphere and great deals. Hook us up & thanks for the help! Also, points of interest in and near the city are also welcomed.

  1. According to several guidebooks, P.V. has the best dining scene in Mexico outside of Mexico City. If yo go downtown, just walk around and check out the menus in the windows, it's hard to go wrong. Some of my favorites are La Palapa, on Los Muertos beach, Oscar's on Isla Cuale, La Paloma on the malecon, and out in Nuevo Vallarta, La Laguna. Check out this site.

  2. Siete tostada in La marina

  3. I'm not sure if it's the same name but I think there is one called Mama Mia

  4. Burrito  brunch

  5. If you're not looking for authentic Mexican food my absolute favorite was Hard Rock Cafe.  The food there is excellent, the service is excellent, the drinks are strong and the entertainment is great.

  6. Montezuma's Revenge

  7.   One of my favorite places to eat while in PV is the "El Brujo" restaurant up the hill on  Carranza  from the romantic zone.   It is a longtime favorite of locals because of the menu and pricing.   Food is terrific!!     Ask a local how to get to it or simply walk up Carranza till you see the huge tree growing up in the street.   We always park in the Romantic zone and walk up the hill for dinner then come back down to have a drink at a local bar that has an exceptional house tequila.   Senor Sweeney's, located on Olas Altas, second floor, not to be confused with Senor Froggy's.

  8. If you like barbecue meats of all kinds, Mariachi musicians serenading, dining with the locals, local prices, then you must visit El Asadero in the Pitillal District. I ordered the combo plate and I was served beef, pork, spareribs, goat, sausage, and chicken. I could have had seconds but my plate was so huge, I barely finished my order. I was looking for some BBQ sauce but I learned that Mexicans do not slather their BBQ in sauce, they marinade their meat, barbecue it over mesquite wood, and serve it. Most of the taxi drivers and hotel workers live in Pitillal so getting there is no problem.
