Some of these places, I wonder if they're even around anymore.

New Orleans: the Holiday Inn restaurant near the downtown area, it was the nice one. I had some great Red Beans and Rice with sausage.

San Francisco: The Sears restaurant outside the Wyndham.

Providence, Rhode Island: Hemenway's.

  1. Molly's in Hot Springs,Ark.

  2. Four Seasons

  3. Napa Valley:  Piattis in Yountville.  Good company, good wine, good weather, good food.  It was years ago but I still remember I had the giant raviolis and canteloupe sorbet in Champagne.

St. Maarten:  A little out of the way place called Ric's American Cafe.  The entire wall facing the white beach was all glass and they had them cranked open.  You literally could have stepped right out the window right onto the beach.

There's a lot more, I just can't remember.  If something wasn't memorable enough, I forget about it.

  7. It's funny you mentioned The Holiday Inn.

I won a trip to Barbados on Wheel of Fortune in 1985.  Anyway, the trip included breakfast buffet (great fresh pineapple!) and dinner in the Holiday Inn dining room.  We discovered these jumbo shrimp called Prawns.  They deep fried them in nothing!!  (No breading)  Oh, man....They were like cutting a filet mignon.  We had them every night!

Have you heard of anyplace in the U.S. that cooks them that way?  I was brought up in Seattle.   A lot of Prawns, but never cooked like that!!  Now I'll be dreaming about them.  Thanks a lot!!  LOL  :)

  8. 7 star hotel. you there is 1 7 star hotel

  9. There was a buffet in or near Myrtle Beach, SC, that I went to once several years ago. I can't remember the name, or exactly where it was at, but it was so good. It was all seafood and steaks. Oysters, scallops, shrimp, crab, etc etc. I think there was also sushi, but I can't recall for sure. I remember the oysters being particularly excellent, very fresh, perfect texture and flavour.

That's probably my favourite restaurant from any vacation I've been on. Not that I would want to eat at it regularly, but it was definitely tasty and memorable.

  10. In the town of San Simion, CA--Pezzulos--had the best Veal Marsala in the world.

  11. San Leandro, CA - Horatio's

Houston, TX - Anthony's Seafood Grill

St. Augustine, FL - 95 Cordoba

    Orlando, FL - La Boheme

    Orlando, FL - Maison Jardin

New York, NY - Cellar In The Sky

    Tampa, FL - Le Bordeaux

    Glenwood, MN - Cafe Bella

St. Thomas, USVI - The Mill

Buenos Aires, AR - El Mirasol

St. Petersburg, RU - Molokhovets' Dream

St. Petersburg, RU - Sushi House (Udel'naya)

  12. I can remember a few memorable ones.

Hog's Breath Inn (nor the same as the one in Carmel, California) in Australia. Excellent Prime grilled prime rib with hollandaise sauce and avacado.

Budapest, Hungary - in Buda at this Hari Krisha restaurant they had an amazing vegatarian dinner that was incredible, and I am not a vegitarian or even live vegitarian food!

And finally, Schnitzel and a Litre of Hoffbrau Haus Bier at October Fest in Germany. Top that off with 4 more litre's of beer, and you get the picture.

As a travelor, I remember places as well as foods, and I have a waistline to prove it!

and btw- Thank you for bringing up such fond memories!
