What are the best saddle pads/cinchs to use with a Western saddle? I need a show pad, and I would like to get a new cinch, but I don't know which are best. My horse is a blue roan 14hand POA with a full blanket, so I want a relatively plain pad that doesn't compete with her spots.

  1. It depends on your horse's back about which type of pad. If she has a bad back, an air ride pad would probably be best. Air ride pads are very easy on a horse's back. One like this would be great: http://www.horse.com/Western-Tack/Saddle... If her back has no problems, you are much less limited. I would suggest a pad like this: http://www.horse.com/Western-Tack/Saddle... I have used one before and loved it. It is very easy on your horse's back and offers a lot of protection

As for cinches, I have used roper cinches, felt cinches, and neoprene cinches. I didn't like the neoprene; it had a tendency to slip if the horse sweat a lot. You have to be careful with roper cinches because they can irritate some horses because of their width. But that all depends on the horse. I used one like this on one of my horses: http://www.horse.com/Western-Tack/Cinche... I liked my felt cinch best. It was fairly easy to clean and didn't slip or irritate my horse. I highly recommend one like this:http://www.rods.com/p/5049,646_Smart-Cin...
