What are the best schools to learn how to build boats?

I am interested in becoming a boat builder when i get older. what are the best schools to learn at? anywhere in the US

Mystic Seaport.

Take a class or two there to see if you like it and they will set you up with the guy that taught them. Believe they call him the "Sergeant."

Best of luck and have fun. Mystic is a wooden boat lovers dream. Make sure you teach takes you to the storage area with all the boats which are not on display.

WOW!  What a wonderful ambition and goal...

     There are some excellant boat-building schools. Most of the ones that are left... are in the New England area and you can check them out, by just checking google on boat-building schools...

     However... in the meantime... you need to decide what area of boat building you want... do you want the actual hands on "craftman" side of boat-building?  Or do you want the "design" side?  Or both?  Hummmm... decisions, decisions, decisions....

    So, while your thinking on all that... here is what you can do now to get you started....

    The best way to learn - is to do.... So, get your self started building some boats - right now...

     Click on the link below, and they will help you with all you need to know... they have plans, bill of materials, estimated hrs to build, estimated costs to build, and they will help you - start to finish...

    I suggest, of course that you start very small... and in your own personal area of interests... ie: sail or power...

    Want power???  Check out the SeaFlea or "Super Spartan" they call it...  you can build it for under $300.00 and if you put a small used 20 - 25hp outboard on it - you can eat the lunch of every jetski on the lake...

    So... it is a great way to learn... in fact, probably the very best way to learn...
