  1. Get whatever brand you like.  Make sure to go to a pro shop (or a place like Golf Galaxy) and get fitted for length, lie angle, and shaft flex.  The fitter can help you narrow your search based on what you want to accomplish, how you swing, little intricacies like that.  How much a club costs doesn't always reflect it's performance.

By the way.... try different balls, including Tour balls.  If you're a big hitter, look for a ball that spins to help around the green.  Keep your options open there!  Just cause you're a 14 doesn't mean you should deny yourself every bit of help to lower your score.   Check out Golf.com for a VERY extensive article about golf ball properties.

    Good luck!

  2. Any set of irons that are oversized and have a large cavity.  Stay away from blades and semi blade irons.  These will not have a cavity in the back and are the hardest to hit.

  3. Honestly, the best way to find out is to try some for yourself.  If you're a 14 handicap you might want to consider some cavity back irons for forgiveness.  I wouldn't suggest blades to you because they are extremely hard to hit.  Before my mizuno irons i used the Bridgestone J33 with Projext X 6.0 flighted shafts.. you might want to look into those.. helped to bring my handicap down to a 1.7. So yeah, your best bet is to go to your local golfsmith, and test try some clubs.

  4. Break up a test, 3/4 Idea Pro hybrid irons, 5-8 highbore irons, 9-W - any normal type of club. Cleveland, Taylor made etc. You can buy clubs one at a time. No need to by all 8 at once.

  5. Go look at Golf magazine and Golf Digest magazine.  They do a review of golf clubs every year.  Focus on the game improvement irons.  Several brands - Mizuno, Taylormade, Cleveland, Ping, etc.  Then go to a golf store where you can try them out, maybe even get help from them to fit them to your swing.

  6. Callaway x20's would be my personal recommendation.

  7. Best irons for someone with a handicap of 14 are Lynx. I was a 16 handicap and they help me get to a 11 handicap pretty quickly. Good Luck

  8. The clubs that you have the most confidence in.  Golf is mental as well, so the clubs that you choose must be a good fit for you in your mind.  Go to your local golf store and hit as many irons as possible, and pick which one feels the best and which one you have the most confidence in hitting well.  Dont worry about brand or price when you do this.

  9. The clubs that will get you to 10!...LOL!
