  1. Ha Long bay and Tuan Chau island. there's a casino for foreigners!!!

  2. everyone goes to ha long bay... its ok,maybe even do an overnight there on a boat or island. i prefer sapa, way up north in the clouds. its an overnight train ride[ then a 1hr bus] from ha noi. a lesser known place and i cant waite to go back is mai chau valley, about 4 hrs north west of ha noi.... of course old town[ pho cu ha noi is nice..  they consider it "central" viet nam and there is not much for tourest , but if you can get someone to take you out in the countryside of nghe an provence.. you'll think you went to heaven. another very special place, but difficult to get to is "dong pham nha" they are caverens in quang binh provence.... oh, not far from ha long is the perfume pagoda... its a hike but very special if you go during the spring pilgramage.

  3. I agree that north of Hanoi is a beautiful area. Beside that l like to recommend Da-lat and Hoi-an. Dalat is a high mountain village, what was used by the French as a holiday spot. It has a cooler climate and a lots of pine trees. So in the summer they could escape the heat in the cities and go in the cooler summer of Dalat. Why i think Dalat is special is because there big empty villa's. There are so many beautiful villa's. Most of them you can't go inside, but some of them you can look inside and then you realize how luxury the French lived. A very beautiful Vietnamese village with a European touch.

Hoi-an is a very good preserved Vietnamese village. If you like taking photo's like i do, than Hoi-an is like Dalat a very good spot to make good shots.

So my list of "have to see" will be

    Dalat

    Hoi-an

    Ha-Noi

    Sapa

    Bac-ha

    If you go, have fun!
