I Like Oz audio but never had here sub's. I like punchy bass for rock music like Sevendust, Alice in Chains, and Old Metallica. I have had Dual and Polk db's wanted to know other thoughts on what they thought was the best sounding sub for a Jeep Wrangler? I have a Alpine mrd-m500 Amp pushing it or them

  1. The type of speaker box is the most important factor when it comes to bass. Looks like you already know sealed boxes are the best for Rock because of their linear bass response curve. Dual and Polk are definatly not the best but most subs can sound good if they are in the right box. JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate and Kicker all make excellent subs that will perform excellent in a sealed box. I prefer JL Audio but they are expensive. Kicker seems like the best value when it come to subs. I have installed many Kicker subs and everbody has been satisfied. If you are a big fan of old Metallica you are definately going to want a pair of subs that are on seperate channels so your bass stays clear when the double bass drums kick in. Single sub or mono applications just can't handle the double bass drums. "Fight Fire with Fire" & "Ride the lightning"sound outstanding with dual subs.  Now you got me going, Ride the Lightning is going in for the ride home.

  2. A pair of JL W3's are a nice match with that amp.

There are quite a few good options if you want to go with a single sub:  Boston G5, Polk SR (Signature Reference), JL W6.  These all have nice excursion and very good sound quality for a single, sealed sub.  Pricier subs, but all good enough to run 1, particularly in a Jeep Wrangler.
