We have tried cheap and cheerful and mid range ones and in both cases the wheels have been broken off by the time we get them back at the airport. Ive seen even the most expensive hard Samsonite cases come through damaged so do i go for holdalls instead.

  1. I travel a lot for work (at least once a month) all over the world. I bought the hard Samsonite ones 15years ago. They're still going strong. They look a bit travel stained now but nothing is broken on them.

I've got a friend who used to be a baggage handler at Gatwick airport and he wouldn't have any luggage other than Samsonite.

  2. I think samsonite do a lifetime warranty, but I dont know if that includes abuse by luggage handlers! They weigh quite a bit too. I just use cheap and cheerful ones - havent had a problem yet. Holdalls wouldnt protect anything inside so I wouldnt use one unless it just had clothes in. So maybe try an expensive one and see I guess!

  3. we have the hard shell ones like samsonite had them for yrs, best ones.

  4. Those metal-looking samsonite type ones are great.  They're not totally solid, they're silver coloured usually.  You can pack tons in and they still do up well.  They've got great trolley system which doesn't take up half the case like others do.  They're also extremely light.  Marks and Spencer do their own versions of these for much less and they're just as good (probably made in the same factory).  These are the ones I have and have not had to replace it yet (despite about 40 trips).

  5. Asali -chinese-

    anything italian plastic
