I'm going to be there for a week in July. Please recommend nightclubs, restaurants, museums, art galleries, etc.

  2. Visit the El Prado Museum (Museo del Prado). It's really a must, and the entrance ticket is very cheap.

The Museo del Prado is one of the most famous museum and art gallery in the world. It features one of the world's finest collections of European art, from the 14th century through the early 19th century.

You also may want to go out to eat "tapas" (ir de tapas). You can do this along the "Gran via" Avenue.

    This is another Must.

    Tourist sightseeing bus trip:

Trapsatur (tel. 91/765 10 16) runs the MadridVision "hop on - hop off" tourist sightseeing bus (web: www.MadridVision.es) which makes a 75-minute sightseeing circuit of the city with recorded commentary in English as well as a number of other languages. No advance reservation is needed. 3 different routes cover different regions of the city and buses leave every 10-25 minutes (depending on season) from the Puerta del Sol and the front of the Prado Museum. Start/Stop times depend on season. A 1-day ticket costs 13 Euros. while a 2-day pass costs 17 Euros. MadridVision is closed only on January 1st.

  3. All of these suggestions are right on.  I spent a week in Madrid and I loved every minute of it!

There are day trips that you can take around Madrid.  A high speed train (AVE) that will take you to Seville in about 2 hours one way.  There are other day trips around Madrid that are worth checking out.

I went to Paris with Ubiquity International and they have a tour of Madrid available.  You can look at the itinerary and use it as a starting point for your trip.  Use it to get ideas for places to visit.

  4. If you're going to be in Madrid, you should also go to Toledo. Awesome city, find a place that sells veal.
