What are the best things to grow on a trellis?

The wrang: Thanks for the info. I should have mentioned that I wanted to grow fruit or veg. Especially veg. Thanks for all the answers...

  1. Any of the flowers already mentioned are nice... but you might also consider grapes, or there is even a version of the tomato plant designed to grow on a trellis, up to 6ft high.  

    Rather depends on where your trellis is, and whether you want it to be 'decorative', or 'productive', hehehe.

  2. As well as runner beans and cucumbers you could grow  Peas, Grape vine, other types of cultivated blackberry or related fruits, kiwi fruits if it's not to cold where you are. You could even train apples, pears or plums on the trellis.  

  3. Scented Jasmine, roses, honeysuckle, wisteria, bignonia, clematis, star jasmine.

  5. A clematis or a climbing rose if you like colour or if not climbing ivy.

  8. my lovely and talented wife loves morning glories, and they do quite well on trellis.

  9. Climbing roses, trumpet vine, honey suckle vine, Jasmine, Morning glory (annual), and clematis.
