I'm doing my road test soon, but I've heard those folks are quite strict, I took classes and been driving a lot overseas, but still feel afraid to failing, any tips anyone? I've heard they are pretty cold blooded to make you fail

  1. Imaka pretty much said it all. Don't worry, a bunch of my friends whom i've sat behind the wheel in a few times (i didn't think they were THAT great of drivers) passed their road test on the first try! The one at Morningside is pretty easy. Try to book a time off of rush hour to avoid traffic. This way, less cars = better chance of passing!

But yeah.. don't ever go over the limit. Speeding = dangerous = disqualification. Same with not stopping fully or giving the pedestrian right of way. Don't rush during the driver's test. Take your time. Its better to be cautious than impulsive. DEFINITELY REMEMBER TO BE OBSERVANT. Check your mirrors every few seconds and look around where you're driving. The instructors are huge on the whole observation thing so they know you're being safe. Basically, put on a show that you're a really safe and responsible driver thats all they want to see. Bring your skills and you should be fine!!

    GOOOD LUCK!

  2. don't be afraid

  3. Make a point of ensuring all mirrors are adjusted for you, and adjust the rearview mirror slightly and glance in both side mirrors after the instructor is in the car so that he or she sees that you are careful about that.  Make sure the windsheild is clean and that there are no obstructions in the back seat to mess up your view.  Don't have anything on the dash or dangling from the mirror.  Make sure you glance in the rear view mirrors frequently, even when not planning a lane change so that you are very aware of traffic all around you at all times.  Don't drive over the speed limit.  Don't chat to the instructor - keep your eyes and attention on the road.  Make sure you come to a complete stop at stop signs.  Make sure you do your shoulder checks before changing lanes, and change lanes smoothly. Practice parking so that you can do it without worrying about it.  Be especially careful of school zones and observe the posted speed limits for them.  Best of luck with the test.

  4. Maintain you're calm, do everything cautiously, always make the safest move, don't speed even by a bit, always always stop for 2 seconds

  5. Just do everything by the book....hands at 10 and 2 position, adjust the mirrors, use your seatbelt, always use your signals, etc. and you should be fine.
