What are the best tower speakers for the money ?

well, if u ask me , i would say that things like bose or jbl are good but if u are looking for something really special then go for either linn or naim audio systems ................they will give u unmatched sound.

I would say cerwin vegas but, they might be just more than 300 you might be able to get a pair for 380.  Check amazon you can usually find a good deal there and alot of reviews.  I have a pair of CVs that ROCK.  You can't beat the value of them.  There might be better speakers and cheaper ones.  But Cerwin Vega gives you the best speaker for the money IMHO.  Also check ebay.  Harman kardon (owns jbl and infiniti) has an ebay store that sells refurbed towers jbl and infinity.  I bought a few bookshelf speakers from them that were great and even though they are refurbed they come with warrranty like new. also the speakers i bought are about 300 for the pair new and i got them there for 120 and there wasnt a scratch on them.

You can find the best sounding speakers at greatly reduced prices in the pre-owned (i.e. used) market.  Do a search on eBay and browse AudiogoN, and there's where you will find your best values.

However, if new is what you're focusing on, here are my recommendations from my experience with audio gear (and speakers are my forté) over the years...

Athena AS-F1.2 under $300/pr. market price

BIC Acoustech under $300/pr. market price
