I'm looking for something that is very comfortable and gives good arch and heel support that i can hike, do moderate climbing in, are waterproof, and something that i can wear on a daily basis. I do plan these to be my everyday shoe so i'm not looking for something super tall. I was looking at something like the Merrell Winterra or something in that category. I'm also not looking to spend a fortune like the Winterra costs. I don't really care much about the color or anything but i don't want something that looks completely ugly and stupid either... Any suggestions from the hiking guru's on here?

  1. Those that support the arches and the ankles.

  2. There are lots of good brands out there. The important thing to do is try them on and see what fits YOUR  foot best. I've had cheap boots that I hiked for 13 days without a problem. I've had expensive boots that gave me blisters on the second day. It's all about what is comfortable for you.

Don't buy boots without trying them on!

  3. Timberlands

  4. I had a pair of Columbia boots that I used for more or less the same thing, and I loved them.  The only thing I did was to get a arch support insert, and they were great.  I wore them out finally, so I got a pair of Merrells.  I use the Merrells daily, and they're fine, but I liked the Columbia's better.  When these are worn out, I will find another pair of Columbia's if I can.
