  1. It all depends on the type of foot you have/the way you run. Whether you have flat, normal, or high arched feet, and whether or not you underpronate, overpronate, or don't pronate at all will determine the type of shoes you need (stability, motion control, or cushion).

I would suggest checking out a store in your area that's specifically for running. They should be able to help you pick the best shoe for you! Hope this helped...Good Luck! :D

  2. I have high arches as well. I would suggest Brooks. Those shoes are the BEST i have ever worn. They provide excellent stability and they are light and really comfy. I went to Body and Sole. They are really helpful there and they will fit you with the best shoe for whatever issue you may have. If you shin splints are really bad, you may want to go to the dr. They can perscribe you with a shoe insert and help out your arches even more. For the shin splints... ICE!! do this about 20 min 2x a day. Built up the tendons surrounding the shin: "write" teh alaphabet with your foot and/or lay on your belly and bend the toe of you foot in: repeat 20x on reach foot. MAke sure that your calves are really lose and stretched out. Hope you start to feel better soon!!!
