What are the best types of plants/flowers to plant in Montreal, QC?

I have experiemented with different seeds this past summer, however, the flowers/plants will sprout and then die. I am following all the proper directions on the back of the seed packages. Does any one know what are the best/easiest plants or flowers to grow in Montreal, Quebec?

Are you sure your seeds didn't die because you neglected to water them early on or maybe you over watered? I think you are climate zone #5. You should check out local nurseries because they always know what grows in your area or not because that is how they make their money. They rarely sell plants or seeds that won't grow in your area.

    Personally, if i lived in your area I would buy one of those small green houses and start the plants indoors by the end of April. I would wait for them to get bigger before I put them in the ground. Keep checking on ebay I've seen inexpensive ones that are the size of a small closet. I just checked it out for you here is the only one I was able to find on ebay (but those small closet ones are sold as kits and are on ebay every other week).

I like do  it yourself types of books and ebay is also a great place to find them I did a search for gardening in Canada and here is the search results on ebay:
