  2. There is no hard and fast rule. It is a long lasting relation/contract between the agent and the client. One can select any mode of communication whih is more convenient to both.

  3. What do you mean? I think it depends on what you need to communicate. Can you elaborate.

  4. Beg to differ with Mr lil. A personal meeting is a luxury when time is of essence, and commute long distance. Plus the agents are usually interested in obtaining a commission, so it'll be them who will be more keen on personal interaction. It would be better for you to ask the agents for quotes on the different types of insurance and their policies, which you can make a comparison with and opt for which suits you the most.  That is best done through e-mails as they are fast and reliable as the written word is stronger than verbal assurances.

  5. In my experience as an intern in a Life Insurance company, most of the prospective clients were subscribed into the business through person to person meetings. This way, a rich rapport can be built between the insurer and the client, while the client also becomes better aware of the clauses of the contract ( especially, the conditions under which the claims are payable etc).

Most of us, who buy insurance do not bother to read the policy document entirely ( Yes, it is very boring and jargon studded). So, once we make a claim for an event, it becomes rejected by the insurer since the claim didn't meet the conditions as stated in the policy document. So, time spent with the insurance agent is an invaluable way of understanding all that you need to know about the contract.

In my opinion, call the agent first, make an appointment for a meeting and get insured!!!

    Good Luck...

  7. Face to face is always best.  All my clients have my cell phone, 800 number if they are long distance, and fax and email.  I make sure they can get ahold of me regardless.  If they want me to meet them to discuss something, regardless of a commission or not, I make the effort to appear at their residence.

  8. the communication method are phone, fax, letter, email.  these are for all including insurance agents. keep handy contact details of all persons who matter, preferably their visiting cards. it will help to communicate when necessary.
