What are the best ways to improve your vertical?

I need it to go up 5-6 inches.

It's only about 25 inches now

  1. Do wall sits and a whole bunch of jump rope.


  2. walk on ur tippy toes go to the wait room and squats

  3. do some deep knee bends while holding weights and then do jumprope.  Plus, check your technique.  On the way up, bring your knees up slightly to give you a bit more upward momentum.

  4. Also make sure your core (abs) is nice and strong.

  5. do calf lifts and squats, that and practice jumping up and down on a TALL box

  6. use you upper body strength to pull yourself up. then work on the legs and calf muscles. you need to make sure your knees are very well streched first though, and make sure you have strong knees

  7. Walking up an incline (stairs, steep hills, etc.) will strengthen your vertical. Eating the right food in moderation will limit your horizontal.

  8. Squats, Box Jumps,  calfs, running helps a little, and if you have weight that  you can lose then they will increase it.  Also if you just go to the park and play basketball it helps

  9. Some basic tips you can use with out weights or equipment.

    1: Do calf lifts on the edge of a step. (Try to use caution so you do not fall down the flight)

    Take 2 or 3 steps instead of 1 step when using a flight of stairs.

    Jump in place, always looking to reach higher.

    Some with equipment:

    Ankle weights during the day, (they go under your pants and no one even knows they are their.)

    Ride your bicycle, with the seat high. If the seat is low it works the bottom area more, go a little higher so your legs are reaching for the pedals a little, this will work the calf area more. ( not for off roading)

    Of course if you have a gym membership or someone to teach you, working with weights, and plyometrics, and power squats will work, but who has the time?? These simple tips you can do around the house, at the mall, or anywere your feet bring you!

    one is wieght lifting-like squats and calf raises

    another is plyometrics-different jumping exercises using ones body weight
