Also, what are the best products for dusting? I live in a carpeted house in the UK, one thing I'm trying to do is de-clutter in order to make dusting easier.

  1. Well, clean or replace your furnace/ AC filters.. That will help A LOT!  Then declutter... Get rid of anything that you don't use or need off coffee tables, end tables, night stands etc...

Don't wear shoes in the main living areas.. Take off shoes in a breezeway, office, garage... Just don't wear shoes in the house.. 80-90% of dirt/dust is caused by outdoor footwear being worn inside!  Dust furniture regularly.. For dusting you can simply use a microfiber cloth... Once a week use PLEDGE or other polish.

Vacuum daily- get a good vacuum with HEPA filter(s).. Empty or change bag regularly... Get your vacuum serviced/cleaned annually to keep it running smoothly.

Vacuum your soft surfaces like couches, chairs, loveseats.. Mattresses and wash your linens regularly.... Keep windows closed...

Put cheesecloth over your furnace ducts and air returns to trap any small dust particles.. Have your ducts cleaned regularly.

    Good luck

  2. Vacuum every day, and change bed covers frequently.  That's what I do.

  3. One thing that helps is running a humidifier or an ionizer in the room to cut down on the dust build up. I run both, but humidifiers are much cheaper. Make sure to use cleaning products when dusting, don't just dry dust - it will come back much quicker if you do. Try Pledge on wood surfaces, and an ammonia or alcohol cleaner like Windex on glass. Another good product that I love are Swiffer dusters - not sure if they sell them in the UK - but they're like a feather duster, only they are made to actually attract the dust so it sticks to the pad instead of just getting stirred around. Change your A/C filters every month, that collects so much dust, and it will help immensely if you happen to be an allergy sufferer as well. Try to keep up with vacuuming and sweeping your floors as well, that will help a lot. Good luck :)

  4. Well, you can use armor all, it's a spray and you can buy it in hardware stores to keep your appliances and other gadgets safe from dust. Then, have your place centralize with aircon. =)

De-cluttering is good, by the way..=)

  5. Being allergic and asthmatic I hate a dusty house.  Decluttering is one of the best things you can do.  Then it is easy to dust and vaccum each day.  If it's done each day it only takes a very short time and you will always be dust free.

  6. Never use a dry duster, always a damp cloth, or aerosol polish such as Johnson's Pledge. Never sweep up indoors- spreads dust. Use a vac with a HEPA (hospital quality filter).

  7. Pledge spray

    Orange

    its great
