Hi all,

I have a Myspace music page (search 'Stuart Guthrie music' in Yahoo if you're interested) and I'm wondering if anyone could please give me some tips on how to promote it? I'm wanting to try and reach 1 million song plays by the end of the year. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Stuart Guthrie :-)

  1. Good goal!

Myspace is great. You might want to look into a friendadder program that's working for a lot of people to optimize myspace. It's the safest one and the constantly recode. It works overnight in adding friends to your group.

Another way is to really find your target audience on a few levels. Genre, age, etc. People who like this may like you..etc. Think about getting yourself up on downloadable sites.  Promote towards what people who like your music would also like. So, if i had folk acoustic music to promote, Id look to see where all the other types similar promote music. Id do some shows, hand out my myspace card/promo. Drop by coffee shops and advertise it.

You may consider kicking it up and talking to people you know and seeing if you can get some good review write ups in stand out publications. Invite them to your show. Get something in a calendar/event catalog. Join in on events in the community. Think about who you know, and how their business might be able to go in with you on promotional stints.

You can try article marketing at an article submission service like http://www.ezinearticles.com and link back to your website in the resource box for your articles.

You can also comment on popular blogs like John Chow's or Joel Comm's that allow linkbacks to your URL. Probably best to comment on Music blogs. Do a Yahoo Search.

Create a video and upload it to YouTube with your URL flashed on the screen. All of these are free.
