My husband and I are considering homeschooling our children in Michigan. Anything concerning homeschooling in Michigan would be great. My husband is a certified teacher, but I would be the one teaching most of the time.

  1. hslda.org is the best place to start  Read everything about your state there.  And read lots of their articles.  Wonderful organization.

The next place would be anything HSLDA has on homeschool organizations in your state.

    Finally try http://www.vegsource.com/homeschool/

It's a good place just to get ideas about what is available to homeschoolers.

  2. I found www.homeschooling.gomilpitas.com to be extremely helpful, and  has information about homeschooling in any state.

  3. http://k12.com Lots of information there. They do homeschooling classes in Michigan I believe. If they can do it in Ohio, TN, they can do it in Michigan most likely. If not, they'll give you information on homeschooling at other places.

  4. These sites have homeschooling info on just about anything and everything, and have been very helpful to me ...

    http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/

    http://homeschooling.about.com/

  5. Home School Legal Defense Association for the win. HSLDA.org

  6. Home school legal defence assocation HSDLA

I live in Indiana and just started homeschooling my daughter.  Need to find what your local state laws are.

book: Homeschool your child for free. by LauraMaery Gold and Joan M. Zielinski  2000.  This book has a lot of web sites in it.  I rented it at the local library.  They had a homeschool resource room in there.

  7. I believe as others have pointed out that HSLDA is THE starting point.  The information is well presented and reliable.

I maintain a directory of homeschool and education related links that go beyond the usual with links to things such as the regional talent search programs, colleges that offer online courses, diplomas and dual credit enrollment, info about the Congressional Awards program, President's Academic Award program (which is open to homeschoolers - I know because I've done it for my son no problem)... and other stuff that you might not generally consider homeschooling but are helpful nonetheless.

I also offer a free, monthly Student Opportunity Email alert that includes links to: Contests open to homeschoolers; Scholarships;  testing deadlines; and success stories.

  8. Here are the laws for Michigan:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?St...

This website has some great general information on homeschooling benefits, pros and cons, statistics, methods, etc.:

    http://www.successful-homeschooling.com

  9. HSLDA has a right-wing, religious agenda. that is, of course, their prerogative, but that's rarely mentioned by

those who direct potential homeschoolers there.

    a different take on HSLDA:
