What are the black and tan dots on my wall?

Question

I was cleaning my children's bedroom this morning and found black and tan dots on my children's window sill, the wall under the window and a pile of them in the toy box under the window. It kind of looks like sand but it can't be b/c some of them are attached to the wall. They are slightly oval shaped and some of the tan ones have a black dot at the end of the oval. Please if anybody has any idea what this is it would be greatly appreciated if you could share this info with me.
