  1. Human activity.

    If natural activity (such as volcanism) releases poisonous gases (e.g. hydrogen sulfide) into the atmosphere, or if a killer whale releases untreated fecal matter directly into an ocean harbor, or even if some part of the world is experiencing a red tide, it's not pollution.  Nor is naturally radioactive pitchblende (ore containing uranium and other dangerous trans-uranic elements).  It's only pollution if it is caused by man and it is undesirable.


  2. Humans, especially now that we are 6 billion strong and ALL taking from the planet and rarely giving back. Bad humans, bad humans. Any way other contributors volcanic reactions and animal waste.
