Nobody knows the causes of most cancers.

Smoking has been linked to lung and some other cancers and excessive sun exposure to skin cancers.

Up to 10% of cancer cases are hereditary.

Many other cancers have recognised risk factors, but these are not causes.

If you look on Cancer Research UK's website, and do a search for each type of cancer, you will find they give an 'overview' for most of them which includes the known risk factors. But you need to remember that they ARE just risk factors - many people who get each type of cancer have none of the risk factors, and most people with the risk factors don't get cancer.

As I said - nobody knows what causes cancer.

If we knew exaclty what caused cancer we will have a cure for it.The only thing we know is that there are some things and habits(like smoking,radiation) that increase the chance of the cells to mutate.So if you want to be at a lower risk of having cancer then you should have a healthy life
