What are the causes of neck discolorations?

i have dark discoloration in my left side of my neck.it occured after i got extra pounds.its really darker than right side and other parts of skin area.any remedies?suggestions/

Get your blood sugar tested right away.  Neck discoloration is a strong sign of insulin resistance which leads to type 2 diabetes.  Hopefully that isn't it but get tested right away.  It is an easy test.  You can even buy a meter and do it yourself at home without going to the Dr.

Does it look like "ring around the color" type discoloration?  If so, it very well may be a sign of insulin resistance.  Most prevalent in heavier people, it is usually just "friction marks" but many diabetics have this distinctive dark line around their neck.

You mentioned you gained extra pounds.  You may want to see a doctor and have some lab work to rule out diabetes
