  1. Loss of farm land in south nj is two fold.

    # 1 farmers made more money 30 yrs ago. cost is very high in growing picking

shipping and hope u get paid! the north American free trade policy killed the US

farmer.Land value is worth more than

some growers ever made. Younger generations will never work as hard as

mom & dad ( sorry but true )

  2. The loss of agricultural land can be managed/compensated by increasing productivity of the suitable crops. The ever increasing population aggravates the food stock.

  3. Chilli Pepper has the general idea, but when cities are built spread out with many hectares of lawns between sparsely set homes the problem compounds. (This could be the ultimate salvation of the cities if they convert lawn to garden for food.)

We also loose topsoil by erosion.

But we are not managing the loss. We are celebrating it, as each sale of agricultural land is bringing a lot of money to the former farmer and bringing to those further out a prospect that they too may ultimately be able to retire on this windfall.

We will leave it for people who are buying this land to struggle with feeding themselves. It is their problem to cause, their problem to resolve.

  4. The human activity contributing to the problem is mainly overpopulation. More people more homes, more roads and airports, all lead to less land available for agriculture. The challenge is to keep producing more food to feed more people on less and less land.
