  1. Just being a woman.  The workplace is still very prejudice against woman.  I did work in the IT profession for ten years and yes was treated like I was an idiot half the time.  Woman still don't earn as much as men for the same job, and an older woman doesn't have a prayer...all prejudices.

Edit- axn, most women work because they have too.  Basically MEN cannot support their families anymore. Does that make them less of a man too?

  2. The challenges would be balancing work and family life.  How much time at work can she spend, can she do overtime, what about getting pregnant?

  3. It is a challenge to climb the corporate ladder. However, it is not that women are on the receiving end of prejudice like the media likes to claim. It is because, on average, men work harder and smarter than women.

  4. It depends on the profession. Work in a female-heavy industry like publishing or non-profit work, and you probably won't find any trouble. Become an engineer or a IT professional, and you will be an oddity.

Axn, are you off your meds again?

  5. The most difficult challenge will be balancing your career and a family if you decide to have one. And if you do decide to have a family, please don't cheat your children out of their mommy time by placing your career first. Your children are only young once. When it's gone, it is gone for ever.

  6. The challenges are the hours that a woman is able to dedicate to work if she decides to become a wife or mother.  There was just a recent study that showed that women are less likely to become partners in law firms even though women now outnumber men in the profession.

  7. I have not faced any challenges thus far, however I believe I am in the minority.

  8. Oh come on axn. If you had a daughter, would you really encourage her not to bother with getting an education or even getting a job because her place is in the home? Let's just hope she can marry someone who doesn't walk out on her a decade later because he decided he didn't like being married or he found someone else. Being in the home is nice and all that but it doesn't pay the bills.

  9. Pursuing an actual profession.

BA's are not professional, regardless of curricula.

  10. I have found so far that no one wants to hire someone with kids due to the fact that the job does not want your kids to take priority if they need you.
