  1. The last I saw MP is a job that is in demand, so just score high enough on the ASVAB and you should be able to go MP.

General Science (GS); Mathematics Knowledge (MK); Mechanical Comprehension (MC); and Sum of Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension (VE).

However, I'm not sure if you can go to the MWD (Military Working Dog) Handler Course right after AIT. You should talk to the recruiter about it, or your NCO once you get to your unit.

And I've heard that even after you've taken the course and you are a qualified dog handler (31B ASI Z6) you might not be working with a dog. I guess it depends on the needs of the unit and if there are dogs available.

  2. You have to have a good ASVAB score. For those of you who don't know what  ASVAB means --Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.   That way you'll have more opportunities to a job that you want in the military.  Instead of being stuck as a Grunt in the military.

The MP field is very demanding.  But rewarding as well.  I hope you're up for it.

    Good luck to you!

  3. Getting MP is fairly easy. Just so you know, dog handler typically isn't an entry-level job. Usually you have 3-5 years experience before you have the privilege of handling MP dogs.

  4. You score well on the ASVAB, get good line scores in this field and attaing at least GT 110, then your half way there.

THe physical at Meps is tough but the security questions and answer time you have with their chief security person is even tougher.

If u meet all the prereqs and pass all of them above average, the only thing stopping u is MOS Strength.  If they have to many, you could be SOL.

With your new knowledge ask them how can I get guaranteeed the job.  Many times, if a soldier wants a job that isnt available, career counselors have to call the ROC to make things happen and many times they do.

Be persistant but only so if you already qualified.  You'll look foolish otherwise

  5. getting the job you want depends on your asvab scores, what service you join, and how manned that particular job is. If a job is overmanned most likely they wont offer it. MP is generally an easier job to get into, just as long as you score well enough on the ASVAB. You should have no problem.

  6. You should be able to easily join the Army as an MP.  Like previously stated, I don't think K9 units are entry level positions.  An no worries, you'll see plenty of action.
