Okay, I am 38 weeks pregnant and have a Dr. appointment this Thursday and wanted to know if my Dr. would strip my membranes. I had this done with my daughter with a different Dr. at 39 weeks and 40 weeks. Just wanted to know if any of you had this done at 38 weeks?

  1. My doc stripped mine at 37 weeks, so yes, they could. It all depends on your doctor.

  2. Yes. My doctor induced me and broke mine at 38weeks. (b/cause my bp was too high)  Your doctor won't likely do it just because you're ready.  They like to wait until you go into labor on your own, unless there is a reason it might endanger you or baby to wait it out.  I've often heard that pitocin makes the pains of labor stronger, and man do I believe it!!!!

  3. I havent had my baby yet, but I am due on Xmas and she wont be in town so we are going to sweep my membrane at 38 weeks. Its totally up to your doctor.

  4. My doctor did it at 39 weeks. I could've done without it though! lol It wasn't a pleasant experience, but it did get things going a little bit.

  5. Is this a membrane sweep If so i had this done when i was 6 days overdue my midwife said although she could feel the head i was no where near ready and would have to be induced and then did it again a few days later and shock!!! i didnt need inducing!!!!

  6. At my 38 week appt my dr. stripped my membranes and put a balloon catheter in me to make me dilate this made me have contractions 3 min apart. i would ask about that as well.
